2011 National Institute for Theoretical Physics Bursaries Scholarship, South Africa

Scholarship Details:

The National Institute for Theoretical Physics (NITheP) offers bursaries on the Honours, Masters and Doctoral levels for students studying in Theoretical Physics or a closely related discipline. These bursaries are available at ALL South African tertiary institutions. In cases where there is no formal program in Theoretical Physics, we will endeavour to support graduate projects which qualify as being of a theoretical physics nature by involving co-supervisors from those institutions which do host such programs.

The current values and duration of the bursaries are as follow:

Honours degree: R40,000 for one year full time study
Masters degree: R55,000 for two years full time study or R36,666 for three years part time study.
Doctoral degree: R75,000 for three years full time study or R56,250 for four years part time study. .

Should the demand exceed the available funds, it may be necessary to award smaller NITheP bursaries to individuals who may then supplement them from NRF or related bursaries.

Application Procedure Details:

To apply for a bursary please complete the online application form at http://nithep.ac.za/2ex.htm. The closure date is 10 January 2011. You will be notified of the outcome of your application as soon as possible. If your application is successful, payment of the bursary will only commence once proof of registration has been received. This should also be faxed or e-mailed to Monique Louw at moniquel@sun.ac.za or 021-808-3862.

Qualification Details:

I am a Southern Sudanese and 25. I have a Bachelor Degree of Sience with Education of Makerere University-Uganda. My Major was in Physics and my Minor was in Mathematics. I have a high affinity to do my research in theoretical physics especially in Quantum Field Theory but there has not been any difinitive and prescriptive means through which I can continue my studies.
I am working as an Assistant Lecture in University of Juba-Southern Sudan. I would like to take this scholarship given the oppotunity to enable be function better than I do today.
