PhD Studentship in Genetics/Geography by University of Leicester, UK

Scholarship Details:

The Department of Genetics in collaboration with the Department of Geography is pleased to offer a funded PhD studentship for October 2012 entry. The studentship is funded by the College of Medicine, Biological Sciences, and Psychology and the College of Science and Engineering of the University of Leicester. It will pay full-time University UK/EU tuition fees for three years and include an annual stipend worth £13,590 as well as a Research Training Development Fund of up to £3,000 per year.

Eligibility Details:

-Applicants must have a first-class or high upper second-class honors degree (or equivalent qualification) in geography or genetics (ideally with experience of GIS) and meet the University’s Standard English language entry requirements.
-It is expected that applicants should hold, or expect to hold by October 2012, a Masters Degree or equivalent qualification demonstrating excellent research aptitude.
-Those who do not hold the standard academic entry requirements should in the first instance contact the Department of Geography for advice. Mature students who do not hold the standard entry qualifications but who have relevant experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
-This studentship is only available to applicants who are eligible to pay the UK/EU tuition fee – i.e., those who are permanently resident in the UK or another EU country.
-Applicants from outside the EU are not eligible for this studentship unless they have been granted permanent UK residency/citizenship.
