Scholarship Details:

Synthesis and characterization of charged cyclodextrin oligomers and of cyclodextrin conjugates with photoactive substrates; binding studies of oligomers and conjugates with anticancer drugs; cell toxicity studies of the systems using various cell lines. Cyclodextrins (CDs) are molecular carriers used in drug delivery. The prospective researcher will carry out European Funded research (Marie Curie ITN network, http://itn-cyclon.eu/ ) and will operate within a network from academia and industry highly specialized in CD chemistry, photochemistry, in vitro drug evaluation and in vivo applications. The researcher will spend time in other groups of the network according to the needs of the project.

Scholarship Description:

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT-DURATION-STARTING DATE: Full–time contract-18 months – Position available immediately when the suitable candidate is found.

PROFILE-ELIGIBILITY. Applicants should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or related sciences. They should have a good synthetic chemistry background and excellent skills in purification methods and in spectroscopic characterisation of molecules. Additional experience in cell handling would be appreciated.
The applicants should be nationals of a country other than the country of the host organisation (Greece) but preferably European citizens (from EU Member States or Associated Countries) with less than or exactly 5 years research experience at the time of hiring. Candidates from countries outside EU and Associated States are also eligible. Greek citizens who have resided in Greece for less than 12 months in the 3 years prior to this hiring date are also eligible.
