Scholarship Details:
The Sars International Centre is a partner of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and a department of Uni Research AS, affiliated with the University of Bergen. The Centre is focused on basic research in marine molecular biology, developmental biology and evolution, through genetic and comparative studies of invertebrates and vertebrates.
Position Details:
The Sars Centre has a temporary full-time position available as Research Assistant in the Jiang research group. The group studies morphogenesis during animal development using the marine invertebrate Ciona intestinalis notochord as a model. The successful candidate will assist the group leader and post-doctoral researcher in a six month (with the possibility of extension) assignment to study the cell biology of ascidian notochord tubulogenesis. Specific tasks include molecular biology (specifically, construction of expression clones for studying gene function), transient transfection in Ciona embryos, and immunohistochemistry.
Application Details:
Applicants should have a bachelor or master degree in biology. Experience in molecular cloning, antibody staining of marine animal embryos, basic developmental biology techniques (including in vitro fertilization, embryo culture, and DNA transfection) is desired.
Application Deadline:
